Carden Park Vineyard

Carden Park is extremely proud to announce the rebirth of its very own sparkling wine after an absence of five years.

In collaboration with Halfpenny Green Winemakers of South Staffordshire, Carden Park is now growing, harvesting and producing a very special selection of two classic British Sparkling Wines using grapes grown on the estate. Although the vast majority of our vineyard was planted in 1988, considerable work has been undertaken over the last two years to bring this completely unique Cheshire Vineyard back into production. 

Our Estates Manager, Peter Pattenden and his team have been busy increasing the yield from our 3 acre vineyard as well as applying that extra special TLC so that this year's harvest delivers an even better vintage than 2011. Indeed if you would like to visit the vineyard it is situated to the rear of the hotel on the south-west facing slopes.

Our current grape variety Seyval Blanc produces for us a light, nutty and crisp sparkling wine and is made using the ultra-classic "methode champenoise" that our French cousins adopt so well within the region of Champagne.  Seyval Blanc, as you may know, is particularly well suited to the British climate but we are also in the process of introducing the Pinot Noir grape variety to further enhance our range as well as the flavour of our wine.

Anyway enough talk! what you need to do now is to taste it and as mentioned we have produced two for you to choose from:

Carden 'Old Gold' and Carden 'Old Gold' Brut Rose

Our Carden 'Old Gold' varieties are named after the famous 'Old Gold' of Wolverhampton Wanderers Professional Football League Championship Champions of 2009.

We encourage you to take a look around our vineyard and to try one of our wines. These can be purchased at the table to accompany your meal, in the bar to toast a special occasion or simply bought as a memento of your stay here at Carden Park.
