Cheshire has some of the finest food available in the whole of the UK with fresh and local produce at your beck and call in the majority of kitchens all around the county. For many North West chefs, it’s just a case of spreading the word and letting the general public know about the variety of dishes that they create each day. This is what this blog intends to today.

At Carden Park, we offer a wide selection of dishes from around the world in our 3 restaurants using local ingredients to the Cheshire, North West and North Wales areas, like North Sea Haddock, Blacksticks Lancashire Blue Cheese and Prime Cheshire Steaks. Both The Vines and Redmond’s are led by our executive head chef Graham Tinsley MBE, who has also had the privilege of cooking for the Royal Family on several occasions. Redmond’s Restaurant, our formal eatery has also been awarded with an AA Rosette for its new, experimental and exciting dishes.

Away from Carden, there are also lots of other places in Cheshire that deliver top, high quality food. In Marton, close to Macclesfield, there is the incredibly popular La Popote which offers an eclectic mix of French, Scottish, South African and now Cheshire cuisine. Originating in Durban over 40 years ago, owners Victor and Lynne have now brought their award winning restaurant to Cheshire but have kept influences from their time in other areas, such as their famous ‘ Moules Mariniere’ and best seller Aberdeen Angus steak. These recipes and all the others that they serve have really gone down a storm with the general public!

Who doesn’t love fish and chips? If you don’t, what kind of Cheshire champion are you?! But if you do, The Parkgate Takeaway on the Wirral Peninsula is the place for you. Showcasing spectacular views of the marshlands and the rolling hills of north Wales, this charming, recently refurbished restaurant is your ideal spot for tasting the freshest produce that our local area has to offer. From fishy catches of the day to fresh pies, it’s certainly a must visit for Cheshire foodies, as is Nicholls of Parkgate next door. This 75 year old ice cream shop is a hidden gem, having perfected the art of mixing exotic Italian flavours with their delicious homemade base. Another great place to sit outside and watch the world go by!

Taking place on the weekend of the 15th of April, the Chester Food, Drink & Lifestyle Festival at Chester Racecourse is one date to highlight on the calendar! Attracting well known food lovers and makers like Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace and French Michelin Award Winning chef Jean Christophe Novelli, the festival has been just getting bigger and bigger each year. With chefs of all ages taking part in competitions and food from the local area being showcased in all areas of the field, this really is a time to shine for Cheshire.

Still hungry? A Sunday Carvery at Carden with all the trimmings is certainly not to be missed! Served between 12.30pm and 2.30pm in Redmond’s Restaurant, this is bound to be the highlight of your weekend. To make reservations, call 01829 731007.

After all this delicious food, will your smile be as wide as the Cheshire Cat? We certainly hope so.
