St George’s Day is on April 23rd and a chance to appreciate all things English. But it’s not just about red roses, fish and chips and Punch and Judy shows in Cheshire this year. Instead, we have lots of unique and different activities planned for this special day.
Why not celebrate your English heritage with a traditional afternoon tea at Carden Park? From £17.50, you can indulge in tantalising treats that St George himself would be proud of! Take your pick from a choice of finger sandwiches, grab a freshly baked scone with jam and clotted cream (Are you going to do it the Devon or Cornwall way?) and choose a deliciously dainty cake made especially for you by our pastry chef. Wash it all down with unlimited cups of tea or coffee. Little fingers out everyone!
As well as this, on Saturday 22nd of April at Beeston Castle, there is a medieval St George’s Day exhibition taking place. Our favourite legend’s story will be brought to life in the magnificent castle grounds and there will be an array of ye olde English fun and games for all ages to get involved in during the weekend. Perfect for a group outing. Family tickets are £22.15 and can be purchased online or by calling 0370 333 1183.
Away from the castle, you may also be tempted to wade into the deep, dark waters of Blue Planet Aquarium. At Blue Planet on April 23rd is your last chance to see the Explorers Easter: Myths And Legends Of The Deep extravaganza. Will you be brave like our patron St George? Tickets can be bought online from £11.50 via the website.
If this is more your kind of thing, then how about an adventurous day at Chester Zoo? Go see the hundreds of animals on show and then how about signing up to a special tour of their beautiful gardens and plants, led by their renowned Botany & Horticulture team? Tours are free of charge and available from 11am-12pm on Saturday 22nd and Wednesday 26th April. Reserve your place by calling 01244 650209.
Tatton Park is a beautiful setting. Why not imagine what it was like back in St George’s time and learn to paint with watercolours? Led by local artist Chris Beesley, the one off event is on Saturday 22nd April from 10am-4pm and costs £34.00. For more information and to pre-book, contact Chris on 07773982996 or e-mail email@example.com.
It’s not just St George’s Day on the 23rd April. It is also National Take A Chance Day. Why not take the leap and try our Kong Ropes course here at Carden Park? Fortune favours the brave.
