On Saturday 12 August, its World Elephant Day and Chester Zoo are holding a sponsored walk around the zoo to raise money for the Never Forget campaign.
Their campaign is to look for a vaccine for EEHV, the devastating virus that kills young elephants, both in zoos and the wild.
The family day will give you and your herd the chance to walk around the zoo before it is open to the public, with plenty of staff lining the route to answer any questions you may have on your way round.
Registration starts at 9am with the Stampede route open from 9.30am.
Entry is as follows:
Non members- Adult – £18.20
Child (3-17) – £15.40
2 & Under – FREE
(Includes zoo admission)
Members- Adult – £5
Child (3-17) – £5
Little Monkey/2 & Under – FREE
Chester Zoo is also asking everyone to raise sponsorship, with family targets starting from £50, depending on the size of your herd. They have some brilliant prizes depending on how much you raise, including elephant ears, a cuddly elephant, elephant goody bags or even a trip to zoo to see the elephants have their breakfast!
All money raised will go straight towards the Never Forget campaign to help fund vital research into a vaccine for EEHV, so elephants all over the world can be protected from this virus.
