Weddings at Carden Park, Cheshire promise to be a stunning affair with incredibly scenic grounds and luxurious hotel interiors to provide a beautiful backdrop to your photographs. We have invited Steve Hale, Cheshire and North Wales wedding photographer, to talk about his experience of summer wedding photography at Carden Park, illustrated by some beautiful images taken here….
With Carden Park being a large hotel with over 1,000 acres of countryside, gardens and two golf courses, it’s fair to say that as a wedding photographer you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing locations. Over the years, I have been fortunate to photograph weddings throughout all seasons: from crisp white snow and striking autumnal colours to glorious spring and summer days with blue skies and sunshine. Here, I have picked out just five of my‚ favourite summer outdoor locations.
Perched on the top of sandstone rocks with an incredible panoramic view over the Cheshire countryside, the 18th hole on the Cheshire golf course is a spectacular location.‚ Unless you are a golfer yourself, you may not even know this location exists so when the weather is fine it’s fantastic to jump in a golf buggy with the newlyweds and head up there. It’s always a memorable part of their big day and couples really enjoy that little bit of time together on the buggy during their journey through the estate, being away from their guests for 10 to 15 minutes to just talk to each other and reflect on the ceremony which has just taken place.
The‚ Carden Gazebo
The Carden Gazebo was added in 2014‚ and it has become hugely popular with bride and grooms for the perfect summer wedding. Its stunning location in the grounds is far away from the noise of main roads and traffic that allows photographers to move around unnoticed throughout the ceremony to capture the reactions and emotions of the couple and their guests. Once the formal ceremony is over, it’s a short walk to pick up a glass of champagne and we can sit back to capture the couple being mobbed for selfies and hugs.
As we move towards Autumn, the evening sun gets a little lower in the sky and the vineyard is an amazing place for some relaxed photographs. Such a unique location like the Carden vineyard opens up so many opportunities for the creative photographer and it is certainly one of my favourites.
The Nicklaus Course
It’s only when you really explore the huge estate of Carden Park that you can find these hidden gems. I just love this particular bridge as the mid-afternoon sun gives a beautiful backlight to really highlight the brides veil and dress whilst the wild flowers frame the picture – just perfect.
On a‚ lovely relaxed walk through the gardens at Carden, chatting about your new married life, it’s easy to forget there is a photographer subtly hiding nearby. You remember the day for the moments and capturing stunning natural photographs from which you will look back on your day,‚ rather than stiff posed pictures, is something I love to do in such wonderful gardens! We also usually gather your family here for those important group photographs and the vibrant colours provide the perfect backdrop.
