Name: Lucy Connolly
Experience: 4 years
Lucy’s top tip for planning a conference: If a client is able to come to us with a clear vision of what they’d like to achieve from the offset, this will help us build a package suited to them. We recommend starting out with the most important parts of the event such as potential date, numbers, preferred type of conference space required, and then we can build the package around this. I would say the most important part at the beginning is covering the bare bones of the event and then all the additional items can then be added on and fall into place at a later stage.
What makes Carden Park a great venue: We are lucky to have many amazing facilities, so although the majority of clients tend to opt for a more traditional conference style, we do also have a wide variety of other options that can be booked, from hiring our Spa exclusively, partaking in our team building activities held on site, booking a wine tasting, or even outdoor networking and utilising the estate grounds on small group walks. When we say we will try our best to make anything happen, we really will (within reason!). We are always keen to work with the client, and rather than just offer a standard package, if a client is looking for the wow factor or something a little different, we will do our best to offer as many unique ideas as possible.
What’s your favourite part of working at the hotel: I am lucky to work with a great team in a positive collaborative environment, no day is the same and seeing events go from enquiry stage right through the booking process to completion is really rewarding. We also get amazing staff perks, the Spa being my favourite.
