Carden Park’s 2025 Captains’ Charity Golf Day Raises Over £10,000

Carden Park Golf Club’s 22nd Annual Captains’ Charity Golf Day proved a runaway success on Tuesday 5th August, raising more than £10,000 for Guide Dogs UK.

The day began with a warm Carden Park welcome as players registered, tucked into bacon baps and stocked up on raffle tickets with the skilful encouragement of the Ladies fundraising team . By midday, the field of 26 four-balls was ready for action, gathering for a group photo before heading to their tees. At 12:30pm sharp, the starter’s klaxon launched the competition with a shotgun start on the Nicklaus golf course.

Storm Floris made its presence known, but the golfers battled the conditions with grit and good humour. Along the way, pastries, Cheshire ice cream and plenty of water kept energy levels high, with the Club Captain and his photographer on hand to capture both the glory shots and the comic mishaps. By late afternoon, golfers returned to the clubhouse with tales of triumph, despair and everything in between.

As the sun dipped, attention turned to the Carden Suite, transformed for a night of culinary delight and fundraising. A superb three-course dinner set the tone, with moving words from the Club and Lady Captain and a heartfelt address from a Guide Dogs representative accompanied by their adorable four-legged ambassador, Donna.

The Carden Team of skilful waiters and waitresses appeared with our starters of Salmon and Dill fishcakes with a watercress and radicchio salad, orange puree and sauce gribiche. The main course, a delicious lamb shoulder, potato croquette, aubergine baba, cumin braised carrot, grilled aubergine and a lamb sauce, was also served. The evening’s culinary journey concluded with Warm Apricot Bakewell served with Chantilly cream, apricot compote and a rich vanilla sauce.

The evening built to a lively auction and raffle, with prizes including:

• A PGA golf lesson with David Llewellyn
• A helicopter flight
• A gin experience
• A year’s supply of Cheshire Farm ice cream
• An autographed Cricket Bat from the 1989 Australian team
• A Thaikhun Master Cookery class
• Plus more!

Bidding wars, cheers and near-miss groans kept spirits high before the celebrations spilled onto the dance floor with the club’s very own golfing DJ keeping the festivities going. By the close, the total confirmed what everyone already knew – it had been a day of generosity, camaraderie and unforgettable fun, raising over £10,000 for a truly life-changing cause.
