Nicklaus Golf Course Maintenance Updates

The 2025 golf season is here – And it’s looking better than ever at Carden Park

As the new golf season swings into gear, there’s no better place to tee off than at Carden Park. With our legendary Nicklaus Golf Course now open and the Cheshire Golf Course in immaculate condition, it’s time to dust off the clubs and get back on the greens.

Golf Course Improvements

We’re continually investing in our courses and facilities to ensure the very best golfing experience for our guests. This dedication is driven by our expert greenkeeping team, who have been hard at work over a particularly dry winter to ensure that 2025 will be a season to remember.

This winter has seen a major upgrade to our bunkers across both courses. The team has reshaped any collapsing faces, replaced large sections of drainage and introduced fresh stone to help water pass through more easily during inevitable British showers. On top of that, we’ve added X tonnes of new sand, with the old sand reused as a stable base. This means less maintenance, softer, more playable sand and a consistently cleaner appearance thanks to reduced weed growth. Whether the sun’s shining or it’s been raining, you’ll notice the difference.

Our greens have been hollow cored to promote better growth and resilience as the season progresses – crucial for maintaining the quality of play our golf members and guests expect. Meanwhile, our ponds have been cleaned out and extensive tree work has been carried out across the estate to improve airflow and views.

Over the past eight years, one of our key brooks had widened significantly due to severe weather and storms. We have recently taken on a major restoration project, reinforcing the banks using gabions filled with stone to halt further erosion. The result? A more stable landscape and a chance to widen the fairways on the 9th, offering more forgiveness for players. This proactive work also helps protect the 8th green during the colder months and has dramatically improved the overall look of the area.

Anyone who played the Nicklaus Course last year will notice a significant transformation this season. The improvements are not just cosmetic – they directly enhance the way the course plays.

Our Head of Estates, Peter Pattenden is confident this season is shaping up to be one of our best yet:

We’ve had a dry winter which has allowed our greenkeeping team to make fantastic progress. With the latest equipment and a lot of hard work, the course is looking the best it’s ever been. It’s going to be an amazing season for golfers at Carden Park.

With both golf courses primed and ready, there’s never been a better time to return to the fairways. Whether you’re a seasoned member or visiting us for the first time, 2025 promises exceptional playing conditions and an unforgettable golfing experience.
