The Cheshire Course 25th Anniversary

In celebration of The Cheshire Golf Course’s 25th Anniversary, we’ve rounded up some fun facts and figures from the last quarter of a century…

  • The original course was designed by John Higgins featuring an 18-hole course on The Carden Estate in 1993
  • Since then, the layout has changed with a new £400k full cart path installed and an £80k investment into refurbishing the bunkers in 2014. Plus, a brand new £35k chipping area was added to the rear of The Clubhouse in 2017
  • Over a million rounds have been played on The Cheshire Golf Course
  • Among many tournaments held on The Cheshire, the most famous was the Pre Qualifier 1 for the Euro tour from 1998 – 2002
  • We’ve welcomed hundreds of members, but we have one long standing member who has been here since the beginning – Dave Mitchell who is now our current Golf President
  • Famous faces to have challenged their golfing skills at Carden include, Michael Owen, Peter Crouch, Jasper Carrott, Paddy McGuinness, Dennis Taylor and Johnny Briggs
