Family Fun This October Half-Term in Cheshire

Chester Zoo

Discover a world of wildlife, adventure and fascinating stories at Chester Zoo. Families can experience 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history in a spectacular immersive experience narrated by Sir David Attenborough, alongside the zoo’s Halloween celebrations running from 17th October to 1st November 2026.

From following the Top Trumps trail to spotting giant pumpkin sculptures, there’s plenty to keep little explorers entertained with Chester Zoo’s popular Halloween Event.  With only  just a 25-minute drive from Carden Park, it’s the perfect day out to pair with the  Chester Zoo hotel package. The Ice Cream Farm

Get ready for a little Halloween magic at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm this October half-term, with its World of Wizardry Interactive Activity running from 24th to 31st October. Perfect for children aged four and over, little witches and wizards can explore a series of magical rooms, getting involved with spell casting, colourful potion making, magical plants and creepy-crawlie crafts.

The experience also includes all-day entry, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy everything else The Ice Cream Farm has to offer before choosing from more than 50 flavours of ice cream and sorbet. For even more Halloween fun, families can get creative at the Paint a Pumpkin Make and Play Experience from 17th to 18th October. Just a 20-minute drive from Carden Park, it’s an easy choice for a fun-filled family day out.

BeWILDerwood

For families who love getting outdoors, Halloween at BeWILDerwood is a brilliant way to spend a day in the woods this October half-term. Open on selected dates throughout October and daily from 24th October to 1st November, families can get into the Halloween spirit while climbing, clambering and whizzing through the woodland.

As the sun goes down, the fun continues with a spooky disco, face stencils and a glowing light trail, followed by the ‘twig or treating’ trail, where curious characters and hidden treats await. Just 20 minutes from Carden Park, it’s an adventure the whole family will enjoy

Chester Storyhouse

For a family day out with a difference, head into Chester for a trip to Storyhouse this October half-term. From 22nd to 25th October, Horrible Histories comes to the stage with two hilarious shows: Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians, bringing the past to life with plenty of laughs, fascinating facts and gruesome surprises along the way.

Expect larger-than-life characters, silly songs and plenty of audience interaction as children discover the more unusual side of history. It’s a fun and entertaining way to keep little ones engaged while they learn something new too. Only a 30 minute drive away from the hotel too.

Cheshire Oaks 

Head to Cheshire Oaks this October half-term for a day of shopping, family fun and plenty of Halloween treats. Follow the HARIBO Halloween Trail as you explore the outlet, catch a spooky screening at the cinema and soak up the seasonal atmosphere.
