What is a spa break? A guide to UK spa breaks

What is a spa break?

A spa break can be defined as an overnight stay at a venue that allows you to enjoy their spa facilities. This can be an overnight stay at a spa hotel or a longer spa retreat lasting 2 days and beyond. It’s an opportunity to relax and soothe the tensions that everyday life can have on both your body and mind.

What is included in a spa break package?

This can vary from venue to venue but at a minimum you will receive a hotel stay with spa access during your break. Depending on the spa package offered, this may include dining options such as; afternoon tea, a light lunch, dinner, drink allowances and breakfast the following day too.

The Spa at Carden: All spa break packages will give you overnight accommodation in our luxury bedrooms situated in the main hotel or courtyard. You will receive a buffet breakfast with a huge array of choices. Outside of your spa day hours you will have access to our main leisure facilities where you will find; a 20-metre pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room available for the entirety of your stay.

Does a spa break include a treatment?

This varies between venues but to maximise your enjoyment from a spa break it is encouraged to select a spa package with a treatment included. This is really where you will be able to experience true rejuvenation benefits. Treatments may vary from facials, manicures, massages, scrubs plus many more.

The Spa at Carden: As part of a spa break at Carden Park you will receive full access to both the outdoor spa garden (read more about this here) and the indoor thermal suite. Many of our packages contain indulgent treatment rituals available in both dual or single occupancy rooms.

What to take for a spa break?

Packing for a spa night away is relatively simple. We have listed the go-to items below:

  • Arrive in comfortable clothes that are easy to slip on and off around your bathing attire
  • Swimwear to use in the water facilities
  • A smart / casual outfit to wear for your evening meal
  • Your usual overnight bag; don’t forget your phone charger!
  • Makeup wipes – for those amongst us who can’t fully trust their ‘waterproof’ mascara but can’t be without it either

Most venues will offer robes, towels and slippers but it is always worth double-checking to see if this is the case. You want your spa break experience to be as comfortable as possible.

The Spa at Carden: Throughout your spa experience you will access fluffy robes, warming blankets, towels and slip on sandals to enhance your experience.

Who do you take on a spa break?

You should select a spa break partner who you know will offer enjoyable company but also someone who you are comfortable to relax in silence with too. Your spa break can be whatever you make of it, but we would encourage you to embrace moments of quiet amongst enjoying a good catch-up over a cocktail in regular intervals. Spa breaks are suitable for couples, groups of friends, corporate rewards, and even solo travelers (which is more popular than you might imagine).

Where is the best spa break in the UK?

The best spa experience in the UK is The Spa at Carden Park Hotel. We might be biased but the multiple awards – including winner of largest spa of the year at the Professional Beauty Awards –  the spa has collected since opening presents a very compelling case! This Cheshire spa will exceed your expectations every time. With a 5 Star spa including England’s largest spa garden, it’s a great choice for spa novices and experts alike. Surrounded by the Cheshire countryside and rolling Welsh hills, you can immerse yourself in a spa experience that intricately combines nature and wellness seamlessly
